"There's a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish.
But what good is that with this huge crowd?" -John 6:9 NLT
When the need to feed five thousand people came about there was a small boy who offered his lunch basket to help. The basket had 5 loaves of bread and two small fish. Jesus used the contents offered in that basket to feed over five thousand hungry people. In the boys hands that bread and fish could of only go so far, at most it could only feed five people (that's 0.1% of 5,000) but in the hands of Jesus it was unstoppable. For you see there was another ingredient in that basket that made the whole difference, that ingredient was faith in Jesus, and in what Jesus can do with what we offer Him.
Giving is about faith and about what God can do with our faith even if it is as tiny as mustard seed, a mite, or as we see here a little boys lunch. Let us not be like Andrew and the disciples who were doubtful with what they had and wanted to dismiss the people because the numbers didn't add up. Let us be faithful with what we do have, put it in the Lord's hands and trust that He will multiply it to bless others. Giving may lighten our pocket but it will add weight to our faith!
