2 Cor 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
When Moses brought down the ten commandments to the children of Israel his face was glowing with God’s radiance because he had been in the presence of the Lord. But this glory was fading away, it was only temporary. Moses would cover his face with a veil before the Israelites so they couldn’t see this, but when he would return to God he would uncover his face again. (Exo 34:33-34) You and I are under a much more glorious covenant relationship with the Lord. Now the glory is not limited to one individual (Moses), “But we all” can experience this glorious transformation in and through Christ. There is no need to veil ourselves because the glory of the Lord Jesus is not passing but eternal. You see because it was an external glory Moses only reflected the glory of God, but because we have an internal and eternal glory not written on tablets of stone but on flesh (3:3) we now radiate the glory of God from within! We are not a mere passing reflection but a shining light.
Christ is the perfect image of God the Father; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.--14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. ... 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” (Jn 1:1, 14, 18) Later Jesus would say.. “he who has seen Me has seen the Father.” (Jn 14:9) and Hebrews 1:3 refers to Him as "being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of his person"
As we grow in the Lord we should be able to see more of Him in us. As believers we behold the glory of God, in the word of God, by the Spirit of God, who transforms us into the image of God. When I look in the mirror I no longer see ME; a spiritually dead, living for self, defeated, manmade person, but I see a God-made man being “transformed into the image of Christ” little by little by His Spirit.
