"I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will." -Acts 13:22
What does a man or woman after God's heart look like? 1 Kings 11:4 says “For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.” By rule of contrast a man after God's own heart is one who displays unwavering loyalty to God - one who will do all of God’s will and not just some of it. Ephesians 6:6 says “not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart” A man/woman like this will be a "God-pleaser" and not men-pleasers. Their goal is to serve God and do his will from the inside out. They are not swayed by passing passions..No they are pleased with serving God humbly. Their passion is to pursue, seek, find, and do His will!
How many of us have a heart like this? How many of us even want a heart like this? Listen David made mistakes but he always got back on the saddle. A Christian is not defined by his/her sins but by the efforts they take in pursuing God. We are in a hot pursuit - a foot chase, walking by faith and not by sight till we finally catch Christ in heaven, so never stop chasing God!
