"He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." -Luke 5:4
A couple years ago I went on a half day deep sea fishing trip in San Diego with the men of the church. Some guys on the boat caught a fish or two but the only thing I caught was nausea.. which led to puking. To be honest I really didn't want to go on the trip to begin with but I went anyway.
In Luke 5 we see that Peter and some of the disciples had not caught any fish either, all they caught was exhaustion and disappointment. The pro Jewish fishermen of the day would tell you that the best fishing technique was to fish at night and to do it by the shore (on shallow waters). But Jesus the real "Master Caster" turned it upside down on them and took them deep sea fishing during the day, which was totally against the norm.
Once in the deep and once they launched their nets on Jesus' word they were overflowing with fish.
We can be like the disciples and play it safe as shoreline fishers, we can remain in the shallow waters all our life. But the real success is in the deep end away from the shallow water. A lot of us aren't very successful as Christians because we choose to live a shallow superficial life. We want Jesus just not too much of Jesus, wet but not too wet. We want to stay in our comfort zone in the shallow water where it's risk free. Unfortunately the places that are risk free are also faith-free.
Jesus wants to take you deep sea fishing. Where he can get you out of your comfort zone and where He can stretch your faith. Where you can learn to rely on Him. Yes it's risky. It's like the show deadliest catch; risky but worth it because Jesus is on the boat with us.

- GO OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE TODAY AND TALK TO SOMEONE YOU WOULDNT NORMALLY TALK TO. HOW CAN YOU BE SURE THAT THE LORD ISN'T ALREADY PREPARING THAT PERSON'S HEART?
