"..the just shall live by his faith." -Hab 2:4
I walked into the church this morning and all the emergency lights were on. I thought to myself "did we forget to pay the electricity bill?" LOL I tried a few switches and the light was definitely out. I heard some noise outside in the back area and I went out there to check it out. I noticed some construction workers had tapped into the power line there or something, they were definitely working on the street that's for sure. I noticed a younger man close by wearing some work gear so I asked him about the power outage and if he knew anything about that. He said he didn't, but that I should probably call the light company just to let them know. When he found out I was the pastor of the church he told me he was a Christian rapper and how we had some shared acquaintances. It was good to connect with him and see his love for the Lord and heart to reach people with his music. After we exchanged info I went back inside and noticed that the power was back on. I texted the guy "the light is back on--maybe I just needed to talk to you". LOL
God works in unusual ways, He uses situations and seeming problems to point you where He needs you to go. This is part of living by faith. I know we would prefer an audible voice or a vision from God telling us where to go, what to say, or do, but God works through the unseen so that we can walk in faith. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith like this; "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." We are not only saved by grace through faith, but God in His grace guides us as we walk by faith.
As righteous set apart people of God we must look at life around us differently than the world does. We must remember that God is always trying to lead us somewhere, we just have to go with the flow and walk by faith--believing that God is orchestrating a master plan in the background of our live's at all times. Now this doesn't mean that every time you see an eagle flying overhead or something out of place that God is trying to give you some hidden message, but walking by faith does mean that you are looking forward with a positive and hopeful attitude. And that you are open to meeting new people, sharing your faith, and looking beyond the circumstances that meet the eye.
