"..two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." -Ecc 4:11-12
We've seen how having and being a friend is good; friends are there to help each other out, and success is a team effort. Life can be cold but friends should never be. A true companion will help you rough out hard weather, they'll be there with you through the hard times even if they aren't always there for the easy ones. When there is persecution or attack a friend will stand behind you. An untrue friend will stab you in the back but a true friend will have your back. These are concepts that even the world understands; 2 is greater than one simple enough right? But Solomon in his wisdom doesn't stop there, he goes on to say that "Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." This is interesting in that he further elongates the principle of strength in numbers. Yes two is greater than one but three is even better because three is greater than two. Rope consists of triple braided cords, and like a rope friends, families, and brother & sisters in Christ can get a lot done for Christ when they stand in unity, oneness of mind, togetherness, and strength. But when there is division within friendships, in the home, or in the church we become unstranded and thus vulnerable in that area. Like a chain we are only as strong as our weakest link.
- WHO NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU TODAY THAT YOU STAND BEHIND THEM AND THAT YOU'VE GOT THEIR BACK? LOOK AT YOUR HOME AND LOOK AT YOUR CHURCH, HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF STRENGTHENING THE AREAS IN MOST NEED OF ATTENTION?
