“But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: ..by sincere love” -2 Cor 6:4, 6b
In this section of scripture Paul lays out about 30 things that make, prove, or demonstrate and authentic minister of God, among them is “sincere love”. The word used here to describe this kind of love means undisguised and without hypocrisy.
One of the things that makes a Christian a Christian is true love. True love is genuine and pure, it does not hide behind a face of hypocrisy, it doesn’t say one thing in front of you and another behind your back. The love we display without putting up a front, the love that is unforced but still willed this is sincere love.
This kind of love is better seen when it is given but not received, when we are mistreated and yet we choose to love them back. When someone hurts our feelings but we still hug them anyway. Sincere love is vulnerable and takes risks for others. It gets hurt but it keeps giving. This is it’s working ground, for sincere love is Agape love - Christ’s love seen through Christ’s loved. No one can take it from you because you freely give it. Do you have this kind of love?
